Here’s what I’ve heard so far at Vermont….
Associate head coach Hajj Turner has confirmed that he is not in the mix to replace Mike Lonergan. He will follow Lonergan to George Washington where he will assume a similar position on the GW staff. Assistant Coach John Becker appears to have the support of some of the recruits, so he may be the one assistant on staff who could be considered for the job. He has spent the past five seasons at UVM and was a college buddy of Lonergan’s at Catholic. It seems more likely, though, that he will be heading back to DC. The other name that is starting to make the rounds is Middlebury head coach Jeff Brown. He is a 1982 Vermont graduate who is in the Catmounts Hall of Fame. He is 10th on the all-time scoring list (1,336 points), and was an assistant there from 1985-1994. This past season, he led Middlebury to the DIII Final Four with a 28-2 record.
