Virginia State University has re-assigned men’s basketball coach George White and has named Gene Thompson as interim coach for the remainder of the 2011 season. The changes are effective immediately. VSU is currently 1-13 and the team has lost 13 in a row after winning the season opener. White was 8-33 in his 1+ seasons at VSU. Thompson, who is currently the men’s tennis coach at VSU, had a long career coaching boy’s basketball at Wilmington (DE) High School, where he won nearly 500 games.
