Former Demon Deacon guard Will Murphy has joined the Wake Forest basketball staff as the team’s Video Coordinator, as announced by head coach Jeff Bzdelik on Thursday.
Murphy, who graduated from Wake Forest this past May, will be responsible for managing the program’s video operations, including cutups and exchanges. He will serve as Summer Camp Director and will assist with team travel, scheduling and other logistics within the basketball office. Murphy will also manage the day-to-day operation of the recruiting databases and coordinate the recruiting mail-outs to prospective student-athletes and coaches.
"We are looking forward to having Will join our staff fulltime," said Bzdelik. "He did a tremendous job as a student manager and also last season as a walk-on. His dedication to the program and strong work ethic will be an asset to our staff."
Murphy served in the program as a student manager for three-and-a-half seasons before joining the active roster as a walk-on guard in December of 2012. Murphy earned a varsity letter in 2012-13 but did not see any game action after suffering a broken jaw during practice in early February.
"I am excited to join the Wake Forest basketball staff fulltime and get my start in coaching," said Murphy. "I love this program and enjoyed being a part of it the past four years. I’m ready to work hard and learn as much about the game as possible from the coaching staff. I’m grateful for this opportunity to continue to be a part of Demon Deacon basketball."
Murphy graduated from Wake Forest in May of 2013 with a degree in mathematical business. A native of Murfreesboro, Tenn., Murphy played on the prep level at The Webb School in Bell Buckle, Tenn.
