The College of Coastal Georgia basketball program is bringing back one of its own to be the new assistant coach under longtime Mariners head coach Gerald Cox.
Jesse Watkins, who played for Cox in the early 1990s, has accepted an offer to work under his former coach as the Mariners prepare for their second season in the four-year ranks and their first as a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference.
Coastal Georgia’s assistant coaching post was left open following the departure of former assistant James Frey who resigned at the end of June to take the head coaching position with the women’s basketball program at South Georgia Tech in Americus.
