The Weatherford College Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Chris Lewis as assistant men’s basketball coach.

Lewis, 31, comes from the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana, where he served one year as an assistant coach. Prior to Providence, he spent five years as an assistant coach at North Lake College in Irving, which included an NJCAA Division III national championship in 2017.

The Bedford native attended L.D. Bell High School and then played basketball for four years at the University of San Diego where he earned a spot on the Conference All-Freshman team in 2006 and was the 2007-08 Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
In 2008, his San Diego team upset the University of Connecticut in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

“I’m excited about being a part of the Weatherford College family,” Lewis said. “Coach (Mark) Osina has established a great program here, and I look forward to contributing to the continued success.”

Lewis holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in leadership studies, both from San Diego.
