Wes Miller and the University of Cincinnati have come to an agreement on a buyout according to the CIncinnati Enquirer.
Under the terms of his most recent contract, Cincinnati owed Miller $9.9 million on his buyout prior to April 1, when that figure was set to drop to $4.69 million. Had Miller left for another opportunity, he would have owed $5 million. According to the Enquirer report, the sides agreed on a $3.1 million buyout deal.
This agreement now allows Miller to pursue other opportunities, while the Bearcats can move forward with their coaching search. Until the separation agreement was finalized, Miller technically remained a university employee, as no formal termination had been announced.
“I want to thank Wes Miller for all of his hard work and the passion he brought to his job every single day,” said AD John Cunningham. “We are excited about the next chapter of Cincinnati basketball.”
Miller is currently believed to be the leader for the vacant job at Charlotte.
