West Virginia assistant coach Ron Everhart underwent successful back surgery on January 6th, and is now on medical leave. There is no timetable for his return, but it sounds like his return to the bench this season is “unlikely.” Everhart joined Bob Huggins staff back in 2012, after stints as a head coach at Duquesne, Northeastern, and McNeese State.

Coordinator of Basketball Operations Josh Eilert has been promoted to assistant coach during Everhart’s absence. This is Eilert’s tenth season at WVU – he spent the first six as the video coordinator before being promoted in 2013. He was a graduate assistant on Huggins staff at Kansas State before joining him in Morgantown.
