Westminster names Amico Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Westminster College (UT) Head Basketball Coach Norm Parrish has announced the addition of Patrick Amico to the men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2019-20 season.

“We are excited to have Patrick as a member of our staff,” Parrish said. “He brings a vast amount of coaching experience at all levels. His work ethic is second to none, and he will be a great addition to the College.”

Amico brings a variety of experience having worked in player development, coaching AAU, high school, collegiate and professional basketball.

Prior to Westminster, Amico was the video coordinator and special assistant to the head coach with UVU men’s basketball. Amico has helped the Wolverines to three record-breaking seasons during his time at UVU. The team most recently won a school-record 25 games during the 2018-19 season and made a third straight appearance at the College Basketball Invitational. With the 25 wins last season, UVU secured back-to-back 20-plus win seasons for the first time in school history.The Wolverines also had the best GPA of any division 1 Mens Basketball team in the country in back to back seasons under Amico.

Amico was apart of the nation’s biggest three-year jump in the KenPom.com rankings, helping take the team from No. 343 during the 2015-16 season to No. 91 at the end of the 2017-18 season.

Amico has also worked the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas the last two years and coached at the professional level for the Nevada Desert Dogs in the NAPB.

Amico helped lead Pine View High School to a state championship and region championship in 2015 and has sent 78 student-athletes to college on scholarship during his days running his AAU program 24/7 Hoops.

I am so excited to be here and learn under a great head coach,” Amico said. “What Coach Parrish has done as a head coach is amazing. Hes won over 500 games and a national championship as a head coach. I cant wait to get started!”

Amico graduated with a bachelor’s in Mass Communications from Dixie State University in 2016.

Amico is a Las Vegas native. He and his wife Jennifer have three sons-Trey (8), Landon (7) and Chase (4), and one daughter – Luci (1).
