“What it’s like to be a Hoop Group Intern”

Hoop Group is now accepting applications for qualified interns for the spring and summer of 2021. One of the powers in the basketball industry, Hoop Group operates 320 annual events with over 100,000 participants. Interns play an integral part in maintaining the industry standards Hoop Group has set for close to 60 years. Chosen candidates will assist full time staff with all aspects of company operations including recruiting existing and new customers, coordinating event staff, and digital media marketing. These internships are unpaid and designed to be for college credit. However, we encourage those who do not need credits to still apply as paid opportunities may become available throughout the year. Room and board will be provided.

By working alongside Hoop Group directors and interacting with basketball coaches at all levels regularly, this position helps aspiring coaches and sports industry professionals learn the skills and work ethic needed to be successful. Interns will actively recruit campers and be involved in the execution of all camp activities. Recruiting for camp includes making cold calls to parents, players, and coaches nationwide. Interns will develop problem solving skills in a fast-paced work environment that traditionally translate to future job opportunities.

Hoop Group interns have gone on to obtain Division I Graduate Assistant and full time positions at the following schools: Penn State, Florida State, Radford, East Carolina, and American, Bryant, Colgate, Princeton, LSU, FGCU, VMI and TCU.

Former full time Hoop Group staff are currently in positions at the following schools: La Salle, Niagara, NJIT, South Carolina, Vanderbilt, Manhattan, St Francis PA, Holy Cross, Brown, Marist, Merrimack, Kent State, NC State, Hofstra, George Mason, and Kentucky. Currently, five former Hoop Group staff members are Division I head coaches.
