Williston State Head Coach Cory Fehringer has announced additions to the men’s basketball coaching staff for the 2015-2016 season. Jarvis Jackson (Aurora, CO) and Sean Sterkel (Bridgeport, NE) will be taking on key roles as an assistant coaches. Both are familiar with Coach Fehringer as Jackson was a teammate of his while at Northeastern Junior College, and Sterkel spent time working together with Fehringer at Dickinson State University.
“We are extremely pleased to have Coach Jackson and Coach Sterkel join the coaching staff. This past season current assistant coach Rylee Hernandez did an outstanding job with minimal help on day-to-day operations. With these two (Jackson and Sterkel) joining the Tetons we expect to have a stronger academic support team, greater preparation in competition, and better attention to detail” commented Fehringer.
Jarvis Jackson joins the Tetons after spending the past four years at Thomas Jefferson High School in Denver, CO. He will be a valuable recruiter as Jackson also developed an AAU network by coaching the Colorado Connect program during the last two summers. Several of those student-athletes received scholarship to compete at the NCAA and NJCAA levels. A former NCAA athlete himself, Jackson earned a four-year degree from Newman University while competing for the Jets. Prior to receiving an NCAA scholarship to play basketball, Jackson also was a part of a NJCAA National Tournament run in Hutchinson, KS with Northeastern Junior College finishing 7th place.
The final addition to the 2015-2016 Men’s Basketball team was Sean Sterkel, who completed his college education from Dickinson State University in Physical Education. During his time in Dickinson, Sterkel was an assistant coach at the high school level as well as serving as top assistant for one year with the Bluehawks of Dickinson State University. Sterkel comes to the Tetons after winning an NWAC Championship as an assistant coach for Clark College. This past season Clark College had four NCAA student-athletes accept scholarships.

Coach Fehringer believes new assistant coaches Jackson and Sterkel provide a strong increase in ability to recruit, prepare for opponents, and manage academic progress for the Tetons. With a full staff and a full TEAM the Tetons are excited to begin the journey.
