Wilson added to West Florida Basketball Staff

Quentshon Wilson has been tabbed as the UWF Men’s Basketball Graduate Assistant, announced UWF Head Coach, Justin Mann.

Wilson spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Pensacola State, leading the Pirates to a 15-14 record in the 2023-24 season.  Pensacola State’s defense thrived under the tutelage of Wilson, as the Pirates held opponents to 68 points per game and 41 percent shooting from the field last season, while they held opponents to 67 points per game during the 2022-23 season.  The Pirates averaged over six steals per contest in both years, leading the team to being one of the top defenses in the Panhandle conference.

“I am excited to add Coach Wilson to our men’s basketball staff here at West Florida”, said Mann.  “He comes to us from across town at Pensacola State College, spending the past two seasons in the Panhandle Conference which is one of the premier junior college conferences in the country.  I watched Coach Wilson throughout the season and seeing his desire for the game along with ability to relate to players is why I wanted him to join our family.  He will be a great asset and I look forward to him impacting our players’ lives daily.  Go Argos!”

In the last two seasons, four of Wilson’s players at PSC have gone on to play at Division 1 programs, while three other players have joined Division II schools.

“I am extremely excited to join the University of West Florida for the upcoming season”, Wilson stated.  “Coach Mann had a wonderful vision to grow the men’s basketball program and the entire UWF community.  I appreciate Coach Mann trusting me to help him implement his vision and add to the family culture at UWF.”

Wilson joins Nick Lenhard, who was recently named as an assistant coach for the program, as additions to Mann’s staff ahead of the 2024-25 season.
