Winona State Director of Athletics Eric Schoh has announced two finalists for the Warriors’ head men’s basketball coaching position.
Dave Bezold and Todd Eisner will be on campus Thursday, August 6 and Friday, August 7, respectively, for interviews and an open forum. The forums will be open to the public – including staff, media and community members.
Bezold most recently was the head coach at Northern Kentucky University in Highland Heights, Kentucky, where he compiled a record of 194-133 (.593 winning percentage) in 11 seasons while leading NKU through the four-year transition from NCAA Division II to Division I beginning in 2012. Prior to the transition, Bezold guided NKU to a 23-7 record in 2011-12 – the team’s fifth 20-win season in six years – and a berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament. Bezold spent 14 years as NKU’s assistant coach before taking the head job in 2004. Bezold is a graduate of Viterbo (Wis.) University, where he also played.
Eisner is in his fifth season as the head coach at Midland University in Fremont, Nebraska. His team has made three consecutive appearances in the NAIA Division II national tournament and finished as national runner-up in 2014. Eisner has spent 17 years as a head coach at the NAIA level, including stops at Viterbo (Wis.) University (1995-99), Bellevue (Neb.) University (2000-08) and a year at Benedictine (Kan.) College, compiling a combined record of 417-165 (a .716 winning percentage). Eisner also was an assistant coach at his alma mater, NCAA Division I Creighton University, where he also played.
