Following a year as a program assistant for the University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team, Katherine Vosters has been named the director of basketball operations, Bo Ryan announced on Friday.
“Kat has been a valuable member of our staff for several years now, working her way up from student manager, to program assistant and now in our operations position,” Ryan said. “She’s organized and has a strong work ethic and shown she is ready to take on the new responsibilities. This should provide a smooth transition for our program and keep us running efficiently.”
A 2013 graduate of UW, Vosters will begin her sixth year with the UW basketball program in 2014-15. Aside from her duties as program assistant in 2013-14, Vosters also served as a student-manager for four seasons.
“I have been fortunate to have worked with this program for the past five years, and to be given the opportunity to take on the role of Director of Basketball Operations is very exciting,” Vosters said. “I thank Coach Ryan and his staff for the opportunity and look forward to continuing my commitment to Wisconsin basketball.”
In her first year as program assistant UW earned its third-ever trip to the Final Four and the program’s first since 2000. Vosters assisted with the administrative duties as they pertained to the 2014 Final Four squad, including organization and production of the 2014 Postseason Celebration, among other things.
A native of Fitchburg, Wis., Vosters earned her bachelor’s degree from the Wisconsin School of Journalism & Mass Communication in 2013, while also earning a degree in Communication Arts and a certificate in Gender and Women’s Studies.
In addition to handling the responsibilities of a lead manager during her junior and senior years, Vosters also worked the UW Boys Basketball Camps each of the past four summers.
