Wisconsin-Waukesha names head coach

The University of Wisconsin-Waukesha has announced the hiring of Adam Ligocki as men’s basketball coach to replace longtime coach Neal Nelson.

Nelson retired this season after leading the Cougars for 30 years. He had a storied career at UW-Waukesha, winning more than 500 games, five state titles and 16 conference championships.

Ligocki, a Pewaukee resident, takes over at UW-Waukesha after serving for four years as assistant varsity boys coach at Waukesha West High School. He also has head coach experience, leading Waukesha West’s 8th grade boys’ team, an Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) team for the Center Court Basketball Club and serving as freshman basketball coach at Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha.

“We are very excited to have found Adam for our program and to know that we have a good mentor and coach for our student athletes,” said Dean/CEO Harry Muir.

Ligocki earned a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from Carroll College (University), where he played on the men’s basketball team from 2003 to 2007. He received his master of science in sports administration from UW-La Crosse in 2011. Ligocki is a tax accountant for Kohl’s Department Stores in Menomonee Falls.
