ASU Mid-South has announced the addition of Sam Wiseman as the program’s associate head coach and offensive coordinator.
A Memphis native with deep ties to the Mid-South basketball community, Wiseman returns home after helping build one of the top junior college basketball programs in the country at Jones College in Ellisville, Mississippi.
During his two seasons at Jones College, Wiseman helped lead the Bobcats to back-to-back Region 23 Championships, Gulf South District Championships and NJCAA National Tournament appearances. Jones posted a 54-14 overall record during his time on staff, while 13 players went on to continue their careers at four-year institutions, including nine Division I programs.
“I’m excited to welcome Sam to the Greyhound family,” said ASU Mid-South Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ben Tanoff. “He is a relentless recruiter with deep Memphis ties and a proven track record of success at the junior college level. More importantly, he’s a high-character coach who builds meaningful relationships with student-athletes and shares the vision we’re creating at Arkansas State University Mid-South. His work ethic, experience and passion for developing young men will make an immediate impact on our program and throughout the West Memphis community.”

Wiseman began his coaching career at Rhodes College in Memphis, where he served as an assistant coach during the 2023-24 season after his playing career was cut short by injury. He assisted with practices, workouts, travel coordination and in-game coaching as the Lynx finished as Southern Athletic Association Tournament runners-up.
Before entering coaching, Wiseman was a standout player in the Memphis area. He played four seasons at Arlington High School, earning first-team all-district honors and Tennessee All-Star recognition. He also competed on the Adidas circuit with Hoop City BC alongside future NBA players James Wiseman, Trendon Watford and Kira Lewis Jr.
Wiseman earned a bachelor’s degree in sports management from the University of Tennessee in May 2023.

As associate head coach and offensive coordinator, Wiseman will assist with recruiting, player development, scouting and game preparation while helping continue the success of Greyhound basketball.
