WKU’s McDonald to return

I just finished watching the Western Kentucky press conference where WKU AD Ross Bjork has announced that head coach Ken McDonald will be retained. There was speculation about his future after a 16-16 season. The entire coaching staff was present at the press conference – it sounds like they will all be retained as well. McDonald, Bjork, and WKU President Gary Ransdell met throughout the weekend to discuss the state of the basketball program.

**UPDATE**

Ken McDonald’s contract has been re-worked as well. He will now work under a revised four-year contract that sees his base salary go down to $250,000 per season (he made $350,000 in the last two seasons). The contract also includes performance incentives as well as an automatic one-year extension if McDonald is retained for the 2012-13 campaign.
