Wood promoted to assistant at Buffalo

Head men’s basketball coach Bobby Hurley has announced that Ben Wood has been promoted to assistant coach. Wood served as Director of Basketball Operations for UB this past season.

"Ben is a bright young coach who has a big future in this business," said Hurley. "He was a huge part of our success this past season and he has deserved this opportunity. Ben will be terrific working with the guys on the floor and in recruiting."

In his first season with the Bulls, Wood was responsible for the team’s video operations, coordinating film exchange and opponent breakdowns and edits. He oversaw the team’s community relations program, the staff of team managers, and served as the staff liaison with the academic services office. He served in a similar capacity at Rhode Island during the 2012-13 season.

Wood earned two degrees from the University of Connecticut where he served as the head manager for the men’s basketball team. He was part of the staff that won the 2011 National Championship.

During his time in Storrs, UConn advanced to two Final Fours, winning the 2011 National Championship, and three Elite Eight appearances. Wood was also a member of two Big East Championship teams (2006, 2011).

From 2007-11, Wood was the co-director of the Jim Calhoun Basketball Camp, which featured more than 1,200 youth aged 8-17 each year.
