It’s been a pretty interesting search so far at Wyoming. After firing Heath Schroyer on February 8th (with 7 regular season games remaining), Wyoming has still not been able to find the right guy. According to a source close to the situation (who I literally just hung up with), at least three coaches who Wyoming has been interested in have turned the job down. Early on, it appeared that they could have had Billy Gillispie. After that, they moved on to St. John’s Mike Dunlap and then BYU associate head coach Dave Rice – both seems to have cooled on the idea of taking the job. Now, AD Tom Burman has focused on three new targets. Murray State head coach Billy Kennedy, Old Dominion head coach Blaine Taylor, and Portland head coach Eric Reveno. There is some speculation that Kennedy (107-53 in 5 seasons at MSU) may have been offered the job, but I’ve also heard that ODU’s Taylor may be interviewed today. Barring any other rejections, I would expect this a hire here with in the week.
