Ricky Yahn is the new Villa Maria College head men’s basketball coach, announced Brian Emerson, Villa Maria’s Executive Vice President.
“Villa Maria College is very excited about the hire of Ricky Yahn as the new men’s basketball coach,” Villa Maria athletic director Chris Heximer said.
“He brings a wealth of coaching and administrative experience to the team. His knowledge of the game, skill in teaching student-athletes, and commitment to student academic success are real strengths which will serve our team well.”
Yahn most recently coached the men’s basketball team at Concordia University (Ann Arbor, Mich.) for more than a decade (2013-2025) and spent his final four seasons also as an assistant athletics director for the Cardinals.
Prior to that he spent time as a men’s basketball assistant coach with stops at Longwood University, Saint Vincent College and Cornell University. Yahn entered collegiate coaching after spending a season as a video coordinator at Geoge Mason University.
As a former men’s collegiate basketball player, Yahn was a first-team all-league pick and team most valuable player at Wheeling Jesuit University, where he was a two-year captain. After his collegiate career, Yahn spent time playing professionally in England and Buffalo.
Yahn holds an MBA from Concordia University and a bachelor of arts degree from Wheeling Jesuit University.
