Hedgepeth Named Assistant Basketball Coach at Sewanee

Sewanee Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bradley Pierson has announced that Michael “Mick” Hedgepeth has been named the new assistant men’s basketball coach for the Tigers.

“I’m excited to announce Mick as our new assistant coach,” said Pierson. “Mick has spent the past two years in Williamstown, Mass., as an assistant at Williams College. Prior to his time at Williams, Mick enjoyed a very successful playing career at Belmont University and played professionally for the Araberri Basketball Club in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. Mick will be a great resource for the student-athletes in our program, and understands the philosophy and mindset of Division III athletics. I’m excited to work with Mick, and feel very fortunate to have him on board.”

Hedgepeth comes to the Domain from NCAA Division III power Williams. At Williams, Hedgepeth was involved in every aspect of the program from coaching, to opponent scouting, and recruiting. During his time at Williams, the Ephs finished 30-20 the past two seasons.

A four-year letterman at NCAA Division I mid-major power Belmont, Hedgepeth finished with 1,191 career points, hitting on 54 percent of his shots. Additionally, Hedgepeth finished his career with 691 rebounds and 78 blocked shots.

In 2011, Hedgepeth was named the Atlantic Sun Conference (A-Sun) Tournament MVP. The two-time All-A-Sun honoree led the Bruins to two straight A-Sun titles and back-to-back berths into the NCAA Tournament.

A 2012 honor graduated of Belmont, Hedgepeth earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting. Off the court, he was named to the Dean’s List seven times and was named the A-Sun Male Student-Athlete of the Year and a Lowe’s Senior CLASS award finalist in 2012.
