St. Leo University Head Coach Vince Alexander Notches 300th Career Victory

The Saint Leo men’s basketball team defeated Lynn University on back on February 3rd in an overtime thriller, 93-90, to earn their 15th win of the season. The victory marked Head Coach Vince Alexander’s 300th career win as a coach.

A 16-year veteran as a collegiate head coach, all of it at the NCAA Division II level, Alexander began the 2014-15 season among the winningest active coaches in Division II in both winning percentage (.604, 53rd) and total wins (285, 55th).

Alexander was named Saint Leo’s head men’s basketball coach on June 3, 2015. He joined the Green and Gold from the University of South Carolina at Aiken, where he led the Pacers for 10 seasons. During that span, Alexander guided USC-Aiken to four Peach Belt Conference regular season championships in 2008, 2012, 2013, and 2014, and three of the last six PBC tournament titles.

In 10 seasons at USC-Aiken, Alexander posted a 196-113 (.634) record with six 20-win seasons. A four-time PBC Coach of the Year, he earned NABC Regional Coach of the Year honors in 2008, 2013, and 2014.

Prior to his successful stint at USC-Aiken, Alexander spent six seasons at Mansfield University in Pennsylvania from 1999 to 2005, charting an 89-74 record.
