According to a report from Mike Jensen, La Salle is expected to name Fran Dunphy as their new head basketball coach. HoopDirt.com mentioned Dunphy as a serious contender here back on 3/29 (DAILY DIRT).
Dunphy, a Philadelphia native, has previously served as the head coach at Temple (2006-19) and Penn (1989-2006). He has 580 career wins, and won 4 Coach of the Year awards (2 in the Ivy, 2 in the AAC). Dunphy also captured 10 Ivy League regular season titles, and three A-10 championships.
He is no stranger to La Salle – he served two stints as an assistant there. The first from 1979-1980, and the next from 1985-88.
Dunphy would replace Ashley Howard who was released on March 21st after four seasons with the Explorers.
More on this when it becomes official.
