The University of the District of Columbia’s men’s head basketball coach Mike Riley has announced the hiring of William West as the new assistant coach.
West comes to UDC with six years of coaching experience at the collegiate level. He first served as an assistant coach at Prince Georges Community College from 2016-18, before being promoted as the head men’s basketball coach.
“I’m excited to have Coach William West join us in supporting our men’s basketball team and building a solid foundation to compete for championships in our conference,” said head coach Riley.
West has cultivated a successful track record which includes scouting and recruiting. Under his leadership, the Prince Georges CC men’s basketball team won a Region XX Championship, an NJCAA Region XX Championship and a #2 ranking in the NJCAA Top 25.
West is also an alumnus of UDC, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree.
“Coach West brings experience and leadership that will be valuable to our current team and future firebirds. We welcome him and look forward to the challenges of next season-” Coach Riley.
