Jack Johnson has been hired as the new assistant men’s basketball coach at University of the Ozarks, it was announced by the athletic department.
Johnson, a native of Van Meter, Iowa, served as the assistant coach at NCAA III Central College (Iowa) from 2020-2022. With the Dutch, Johnson was the lead recruiter for Kansas and Missouri while serving as the junior varsity head coach. The Dutch produced five conference All-Academic Team members and three All-Conference players during his tenure. Central has qualified for 11 NCAA III National Tournaments.
“I am very excited to welcome Jack into our program – his experience in recruiting, player development, and strategy at the NCAA Division III level make him a perfect fit for our program,” said head coach Matt Bolton. “Jack has wasted no time developing relationships with the current players along with potential recruits for the class of 2023. His work ethic will be invaluable to our program and our student-athletes.”
Prior to Central, Johnson was the assistant boys basketball coach at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School (Iowa) from 2018-2020 helping the Cardinals to a 28-12 mark.
Johnson received his bachelor’s degree in business education from Buena Vista University in 2018 and his master’s degree in coaching and athletic administration from Concordia Irvine in 2022.
