Daily Dirt – 8/4/22

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I have heard from multiple sources that Tennessee State assistant Ben Walker will be named as an assistant at Milwaukee. Walker, a Milwaukee native, has been at TSU since 2018, and has also been a D1 assistant at South Dakota State and Jackson State. An official announcement is expected shortly.

Bobby Jordan has been hired as an assistant at Albany. Jordan had been on Bashir Mason’s staff at Wagner since 2019, and had gone with him to St. Peter’s back in June. Jordan, who played at Drexel, also spent time there as the DBO and as an assistant coach.

I can confirm through great sources that Utah Valley will hire Newberry College (SC) assistant Stephen Rodgers as their new Director of Basketball Operations. Before joining the Newberry staff prior to last season, Rodgers had served as a graduate assistant on Leonard Hamilton’s staff at Florida State.

Sounds like another Newberry assistant may be on the move as well. I have heard that assistant coach Bernie Coaxum will be headed to South Carolina State as an assistant. Coaxum, a South Carolina native, has been at Newberry for the past five years. He played collegiately at both Anderson University (SC) and the College of Charleston, and also worked as a HS coach is SC.

I can confirm that D3 WashU assistant coach Kevin Dux is on the move and will land at IMG Academy (FL). Dux had been at WashU since 2018, and has also been an assistant at Stetson and a GA at Florida State. Also, IMG will add former D1 assistant Mike Kelly as their Director of College Placement for Basketball. Kelly spent time at Virginia Tech, Davidson, James Madison, and Bryant. He also served as the head coach hat D3 Rhode Island College
