Daily Dirt – 9/1/22

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Crazy that it’s September already. Here are a few things that I’ve heard…

It sounds like Boston College will hire Adam Walsh as their new DBO. Walsh had resigned earlier this spring as the head coach at D3 Shenandoah. He has also been the head coach at Centenary (LA) where he led their transition from D1 to D3. He will replace Luke Simons, who departed for a similar position at Baylor back in August.

I have heard that the search at D3 Marywood (PA) is down to four. The names that I have heard are: current Marywood assistant Zachary Brunner, DeSales assistant Jon Showers (a former Marywood assistant), Randolph-Macon associate head coach Dave Matturro, and a current D3 head coach from the NY region. It sounds like on-campus interviews will wrap-up early next week.

The search at D3 Berea College (KY) is also underway. Working on names, but I’ve heard that phone interviews will begin on Monday.

I have heard that LaTroy Farrow has been named as the new head coach at JUCO Kennedy-King College in Chicago. Farrow, who played at Kentucky Wesleyan, has been working at the high school level in the Chicago area. He also spent time as the head coach of the Quad City River Hawks in the Premier Basketball League (PBL).

Nick Mora has been hired as an assistant at Kilgore College (TX). Mora, a former player at UTRGV spent last season on the staff at D2 Texas A&M International.

I have heard that D2 Westminster College (UT) assistant Jesse Simpson is headed to D3 University of the Redlands. Last season was his first at WC – he had been working at the HS level prior to that.

Back on 8/22 (DAILY DIRT), I mentioned that Keene State’s David Hastings had departed for a spot at Northfield Mt. Hermon. That move didn’t last long, and Hastings has now returned to Keene State. You can watch his return HERE – pretty cool moment.
