The Peru State Men’s Basketball Team is excited to announce the hiring of Jordon Johnson as Assistant Coach.
Johnson spent the past season as a Basketball Assistant Coach at John Paul II High School in Plano, TX. He played a crucial role in strategic planning for practices and games, preparing pre- and post-game scouting reports, and maintaining records of opponents’ and athletes’ performances based on these reports. He assisted with player evaluations and in building their confidence in their game.
Additionally, Jordon served as a Nike EYBL Basketball Coach at Pro Skills Basketball in Richardson, TX. During his tenure with Pro Skills, he focused on player management, helping athletes learn fundamental skills and game strategy. He also contributed to recruiting potential athletes.
Coach Johnson also worked as a basketball trainer for Full Throttle Basketball in Cedar Hill, Texas, where he oversaw the creation and implementation of workout plans. He evaluated athletes’ skills and developed training and conditioning strategies to enhance their performance.
Johnson played four years of basketball, beginning his collegiate career at Northwood University in Cedar Hill, Texas, where he ranked 23rd in the NAIA in assists per game at Northwood. Jordon completed his collegiate career at Wayland Baptist University, where he was named All-Sooner Athletic Conference Honorable Mention in his senior year after averaging 11.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, and two assists per game. He was also recognized on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court during his junior year. Johnson was Academic All-Sooner Athletic Conference in both of his years at Wayland Baptist. He played high school basketball at Flower Mound Marcus High School, where he helped lead the team to the Texas 5A Boys Basketball State Championship in his final two years.

Johnson earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Science with a minor in Physical Science from Wayland Baptist.
