The University of Illinois Springfield men’s basketball program has announced that Earl Lewis will join the coaching staff at UIS for the 2024-25 season. Prior to starting his coaching career at Whitewater high school, he finished his playing career at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where he helped his team to a WIAC tournament championship and a berth in the 2023 NCAA Division III Final Four.

“Earl is a fantastic addition to our program.” shared Head Coach Matt Brock. “He is an energy-giver and will bring passion every day. He has been a part of a storied championship program at Whitewater and is ready to hit the ground running.” 

Lewis joins the coaching staff of sixth-year head coach Matt Brock and second-year assistant coach Adam Eberhard. 

The Prairie Stars return four starters from last year’s team, including all-GLVC performers Jordan Rice, Jack Weber and Max Kunnert. UIS is scheduled to open the season at home on Saturday, Nov. 9.
