Following-up on something that I first reported earlier this morning (DAILY DIRT)….
I have heard from multiple sources that D2 Florida Tech intends to hire Wofford Associate Head Coach Will Murphy as their new Head Coach.
Murphy joined the Wofford staff as Director of Basketball Operations in June 2017, was promoted to assistant coach just a few months later in October, and elevated to associate head coach in August 2023.
Before arriving at Wofford, Murphy spent a season as Wake Forest’s Director of Player Development. Prior to that, he served three years with the Demon Deacons as Video Coordinator and Director of Technology and Scouting.
Also, I have heard from a bunch of people that Murphy intends to add Coastal Carolina assistant Zack Freesman to his staff.
Prior to his time at Coastal, Freesman worked as an assistant at Western Carolina. He also worked for Pat Kelsey at Winthrop as the Director of Basketball Operations (2019-21) and Video Coordinator (2018-19).
