Buford departs Kansas Basketball staff for assistant role with NBA’s Denver Nuggets

Kansas head coach Bill Self confirmed that assistant coach Chase Buford is leaving the Jayhawks after just one season to join the Denver Nuggets’ staff. Buford, a former Kansas walk-on guard and member of the 2008 national championship team, was hired as an assistant coach in Denver under David Adelman.

Buford’s coaching journey has taken him through the NBA and international ranks before his return to Kansas in June 2024. He worked as a regional scout for the Atlanta Hawks, held roles with multiple G League teams, and served as head coach of both the Wisconsin Herd and Australia’s Sydney Kings. After just one year back at his alma mater, he now heads to Denver, where he will reunite with another Jayhawk champion, Christian Braun, who helped Kansas to the 2022 national title.
