D3 DIRT: Gettysburg’s Dunne to be named next Head Basketball Coach at MIT

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

I can confirm that Gettysburg head basketball coach B.J. Dunne is on the move and will take over at MIT.

Dunne has been the Bullets head coach for the past 6 years, increasing his win total in each season, and ending his tenure with a 89-68 (.567) mark. This past year, he led his team to a 21-8 record and advanced to the second round of the NCAA D3 National Tournament.

Prior to his time at Gettysburg, Dunne spent five seasons as the head coach at Vassar College, and served as an assistant at both Emerson College and Babson College.

Dunne will replace long-time MIT head coach Larry Anderson who retired earlier this off-season after 30 seasons on the job.

The other two finalists for the job were also current head coaches with high-academic D3 coaching backgrounds.

More on this move once it becomes official.
