Massey, Polce added to Basketball Staff at D1/D3 St. Francis

Saint Francis University men’s basketball head coach Luke McConnell has announced the additions of Tanner Massey and Kyle Polce to his coaching staff.

“I am so thrilled to add Kyle Polce & Tanner Massey to the staff this year,”. “They bring a wealth of knowledge, passion & work ethic that our players will immediately benefit from. Kyle & Tanner are high character individuals and will both be great representatives for our program & Saint Francis University.”

Massey comes to Loretto with 15 years of experience in the NBA G League, FIBA, NCAA, NAIA, and the high school level. He was the head coach at Atlantic Collegiate Academy High School in South Carolina last season, leading the team to a South Carolina State title with a 24-3 overall record and an 11-1 conference mark.

“I could not be more thrilled to join the Saint Francis basketball program,” said Massey. “I am appreciative of Coach McConnell giving me this opportunity, and I look forward to helping this program daily. This position is one I do not take lightly; Coach McConnell, our staff, and most importantly our players will get my best every day.”

Before his position in South Carolina, Massey served as the associate head coach at Goldey-Beacom, an NCAA Division II program for the 2023-24 season. He helped the team finish third in the league, while ranking first in 3-point percentage and third in scoring average.

Similar to Red Flash Associate Head Coach Devin Sweetney, Massey worked in the NBA G League with Erie (2016-17), Northern Arizona (2017-18), Capital City (2018-19), and Northern Arizona (2019-20). Massey was an assistant coach for Capital City the year that Sweetney played for the Go-Go. Massey has worked with NBA players Gary Payton, Jr. (Golden State), Justin Wright Foreman (Utah), Tyler Lydon (Denver), Okara White (Miami), Archie Goodwin (Brooklyn), Kalin Lucas (Detroit), Stephen Zimmerman (Orlando), Anthony Brown (Orlando), through the NBA G-League.

In addition, Massey has also worked with the Saskatchewan Rattlers (CEBL, summers 2022-2023) and B.C. Nokia (Korisliga, 2022-23), Syrian National Team (2021), Fraser Valley Bandits (CEBL, 2021), Hiroshima (Japanese B-League, 2017), and Union College (NAIA, 2013-14).

Massey graduated from Coastal Carolina University in 2010 with a degree in communications. He was the team manager for the Coastal Carolina men’s basketball team.

Polce comes to Saint Francis after graduating from the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) in December 2024. Polce played two seasons with USCB and helped the team to the Peach Belt Championship Game in the program’s second season. He was a two-year starter and team captain.

“I am incredibly grateful to Coach Luke McConnell for the opportunity to join the Red Flash family,” said Polce. “I look forward to supporting the players both on and off the court, helping them grow into not only better athletes but also great young men. I’m excited to work with the coaching staff and players, and also contribute to the team’s success, with the ultimate goal of bringing home another championship trophy this season.”

Polce started his career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania from 2020-23. A two-year starter, he helped the team to a 65-5 record and a spot in the 2022 NCAA Final Four. The squad reached a No. 1 ranking in the NABC poll for the first time in school history.

A native of Pittsburgh, Polce went to Pine-Richland High School, where he was a three-year starter and a 6A WPIAL All-Conference first team selection.
