I have heard from multiple sources that Steve Lavin is expected to add former Charlotte head coach Alan Major to his staff at San Diego.
Major was the head coach at Charlotte from 2010-15 following stints as an assistant at Ohio State (2004-10) and Xavier (2001-04). His best season with the 49ers came in 2012-13 when he led his team to a 21–12 record and advanced to the NIT.
The coaching veteran has also worked at Southern Illinois and Pacific. He has most recently spent time coaching in both Rwanda and Nigeria.
This move could be made official sometime this week.
