DAILY DIRT – 3/26/26

What a wild few days on the coaching carousel. Hubert Davis gets canned after averaging 25 wins per season at UNC, Will Wade could be headed back to LSU, Bill Self retirement chatter is hot, USF hires Chris Mack 3 days after losing Brian Hodgson, and the silly search at BC (that has been “close” to done for days) trudges on. With a lot of focus on these jobs, I’ll take a break from that and give some updates on a bunch of small college searches…

The hot name at D2 Lewis right now is Lincoln Memorial assistant Kevin Reynolds. Prior to his time at LMU, Reynolds served as the head coach at NAIA Point Park and D2 Slippery Rock. Lewis AD John Ashaolu was the AD at Point Park when Reynolds was the head coach there.

It sounds like D3 Sarah Lawrence College assistant Sean Clores is the clear leader at D3 Mt. St. Vincent. Clores has been at SLC for the past six seasons, and was the head coach at CCNY before that. He also worked as an assistant at D2 STAC and D3 John Jay. An announcement here is expected shortly.

With D3 Colby about to officially open (D3 DIRT), obviously the hot name here will be former Dartmouth head coach David McLaughlin. Prior to his time at Dartmouth, the 1997 Colby grad had a great run at D2 Stonehill (2004-13) where he went 189-99, including two D2 Final Four appearances. He also spent time as the associate head coach at Northeastern

The search at NJCAA D1 Highland CC (IL) is in full swing. One name that keeps popping up here is former Ball State assistant John Clancy. Last season was his first with the Cardinals after a two year run as an assistant at Western Illinois. He has previously served as the head coach at NJCAA D1 Triton College (IL) where he led his team to the NJCAA national semifinals in 2021-22.

It sounds like the search at D2 Ferris State is down to two finalists. I have heard that they are both current head coaches from the NAIA Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC).

I have heard that the search at NAIA Florida Memorial is wrapping up, and a decision could be made as early as tomorrow. It sounds like former Chicago State assistant Tramaine Stevens (currently the head coach at Miramar HS) and a current small college head coach in the area are both in deep here.

From the Prep level…interviews are underway at Bridgton Academy (NH). A bunch of guys with D1 ties involved in the 18 initial interviews (yes – 18). More on this one soon.
