NAIA NEWS: Reigle named Head Basketball Coach at Culver-Stockton

Culver-Stockton College Athletics Director Pat Atwell announced that Jeremy Reigle will be the new Head Coach of the Wildcat Men’s Basketball program.

Reigle replaces Dorian Hobbs, who resigned in February after three seasons at the helm. Reigle will become the 26th head coach in the 112-year history of the program.

Reigle has spent 16 years as a head coach at the NAIA and NCAA III level, compiling a 210-197 overall record at Presentation College in Presentation, S.D., and Rockford University in Rockford, Ill.

“We are exceptionally pleased to announce that Jeremy Reigle has agreed to be our next Head Men’s Basketball coach at Culver-Stockton College,” stated Atwell. “Coach Reigle has an impressive winning background at two different schools, and we are thrilled that he will bring this winning pedigree to the Culver-Stockton campus.

“Coach Reigle has an understanding of the innerworkings of private schools and that was very important,” Atwell continued. ” In the hiring process finding a coach with a winning collegiate background as a head coach was a priority. Jeremy fits this criteria perfectly. He has a proven track record, has a vision for what he wants the Wildcats to look like, and we are excited to work together to implement his blueprint for our basketball program.”

During his seven seasons at Rockford, Reigle compiled a 91-75 overall record and led the Regents to the conference tournament six straight years. He was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) Coach of the Year in 2020-21 after leading the Regents to their first-ever NACC South Division regular season and tournament championships.

During that same season, the Regents finished ranked in the top 30 as a team in nine different categories, including seventh in NCAA Division III in assists per game (18.9), 11th in total assists (265), 13th in field goal percentage (49.5%), 21st in three-point field goals made (133), 24th in free throw attempts (279), 25th in made free throws (191), 26th in three-point attempts (355), 26th in scoring offense (84.4) and 30th in total rebounds (542).

Reigle believes he can duplicate that effort at Culver-Stockton.

“After talking with President (Lauren) Schellenberger, Coach (Pat) Atwell and everyone involved in the search, I can tell that Culver-Stockton will provide the support it takes to win at a high level” said Reigle.

“My goal has always been to provide student-athletes with the best experience possible and I feel strongly that together we can build a successful program that combines winning and a great student-athlete experience.”

Prior to Rockford, Reigle spent nine seasons at Presentation where he amassed over 100 wins and became the program’s all-time winningest coach. While at Presentation, Reigle coached 16 all-conference players, including a defensive player of the year, the only three NAIA All-Americans in school history, 32 North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) Scholar-Athletes and five Daktronics Scholar-Athletes. In his last year, Reigle guided the Saints to their best season in program history, finishing 21-10 overall and 11-3 in the NSAA and their first-ever regular season conference title. He was named the 2018-19 NSAA Coach of the Year.

Reigle is also thrilled to get back to the NAIA after having such success at Presentation.

“While change is always difficult, having the opportunity to get back to the NAIA level at an institution like Culver- Stockton College, that has the leadership and desire to win, made it the right move for my family and me,” said Reigle. “The campus and facilities are beautiful and everyone made us feel so welcome.”

Reigle began his coaching career at William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa, where he spent two seasons as an assistant coach. The Statesmen went 50-16 during Reigle’s two years on staff and were ranked as high as #2 in the NAIA national poll.

Reigle graduated from William Penn University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in history and government. Reigle and his wife, Nikki, have two sons, Owen and Mason.
