DAILY DIRT – 4/8/26

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Been on the run all day – finally getting caught up. Here are a bunch of things that I’ve heard…

It sounds like Denver assistant Abe Woldeslassie is on the move and will land at Northern Iowa where he will join new head coach Kyle Green’s staff. Woldeslassie spent seven seasons as the head coach at his alma mater Macalester College (MN) before being hired at Denver last spring.

I can confirm that Brian Merritt is no longer on the staff at Bryant. Sounds like a potential landing spot for him is at Texas Arlington. Last season was Merritt’s first with the Bulldogs – he has also had stops at New Mexico State, Morgan State, LSU, Arizona State, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, Hampton and Louisville.

It sounds like Jacksonville State associate head coach Dennan Morrow and Samford assistant Vince Martin are in the mix to join Jon Cremins’ new staff at Georgia State. Stay tuned…

I have heard the leader at D2 AIC (MA) is Northern Kentucky assistant RJ Evans. The New England native played at both Holy Cross and UConn. He also spent five seasons on the staff at Holy Cross and has worked at UNCA, Louisville, and Texas in addition to his time at NKU. More on this one as I hear it.

Bill Phillips has departed the Delaware coaching staff and has started Beyond Possible Mindsets. Phillips had spent the past ten seasons at Delaware, serving the last five as the associate head coach.

It sounds like two current D3 head coaches from the same conference are in the mix to join the staffs at Dartmouth and Siena. Stay tuned for more here.

Interviews are underway at D3 Alvernia. It sounds like they are bringing six candidates to campus, with at least two interviews already completed. Names I’ve heard include DeSales assistant Stephen Griffin, and former assistant Dan Hartzman, who now works in a different role at the college. Should have more names shortly.

I have heard the search at D3 Mount Aloysius has wrapped up. Working on the name now.
