Georgia State head men’s basketball coach Jon Cremins announced the addition of nine staff members on Tuesday afternoon, completing his coaching staff ahead of the 2026–27 season.
Cremins named Corey Hendren, Vince Martin, Dennan Morrow, Matt Sholtis, Adam Simmons and Terryonte Thomas as assistant coaches. Michael Caswell will serve as the Basketball Operations Coordinator, while Aydin Melamed has been appointed Director of Player Personnel. Charles DiPlasqua joins the program as the Director of Video and Analytics.
The additions complete Cremins’ inaugural staff at Georgia State as the Panthers prepare for the upcoming season.
Corey Hendren, Assistant Coach
Corey Hendren joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in April 2026 under head coach Jon Cremins.
Hendren comes to Atlanta after serving as head coach at Tallahassee State College since 2023. In his first season, he led the Eagles to a 20–13 record and a berth in the state tournament, advancing with a win over Miami Dade before knocking off top-ranked Daytona State in the opening round. He followed that with a 15–15 campaign in year two, while continuing to develop talent and produce multiple transfers to four-year programs.
Prior to Tallahassee State, Hendren spent two seasons as associate head coach at UNC Pembroke, helping guide the Braves to a 53–8 record, two Conference Carolinas regular-season championships and consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances. During his tenure, he coached six all-conference players, including the league’s Player and Defensive Player of the Year in 2022.
Hendren also spent four seasons as an assistant coach at USC Aiken, where the program posted four consecutive winning seasons and reached the NCAA Division II Tournament, finishing in the top 25 nationally in 2018–19. He began his head coaching career at USC Salkehatchie, leading the program to a then school-record 21 wins in 2016–17 and helping develop multiple players who advanced to four-year institutions.
A former player at Milligan University, Hendren appeared in 99 games and shot 37 percent from three-point range during his career. He graduated cum laude with a degree in business and sports management and later earned his master’s degree in sports administration and coaching from Bob Jones University.
Hendren is married to the former Carolina Morelli. The couple have a dog, Max.
Vince Martin, Assistant Coach
Vince Martin joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff in April 2026 as an assistant coach under head coach Jon Cremins.
Martin arrives in Atlanta after one season as an assistant coach at Samford University, where he joined the program prior to the 2025–26 season.
Before Samford, he spent two seasons at Lipscomb under head coach Lennie Acuff, helping guide the Bisons to back-to-back 20-win campaigns. In 2024–25, Lipscomb posted a 25–10 overall record and a 14–4 mark in ASUN play, capturing both the regular season and conference tournament titles to earn an NCAA Tournament berth.
Prior to his time at Lipscomb, Martin served as an assistant coach at ETSU and spent three seasons at Jacksonville. During his tenure with the Dolphins, he was part of a staff that helped the program reach one of its most successful seasons in decades, including an undefeated 15–0 record at home. Known for his work in player development, Martin coached multiple all-conference performers, including Kevion Nolan, Dontarius James and Destin Barnes.
Martin also brings head coaching experience, having led Bishop Snyder High School (Fla.) for three seasons. There, he developed several top prospects, including five-star recruit and University of Tennessee signee Corey Walker Jr. In addition, Martin worked with the Atlanta-based Game Elite AAU program, coaching high-level talent such as Walker Kessler and Ernest Ross.
A native of Marietta, Ga., Martin played collegiately at Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Young Harris College and Jacksonville University. At Young Harris, he averaged 16.9 points and 7.3 assists per game, while knocking down 99 three-pointers over two seasons. He went on to total 297 points, 141 assists, 117 rebounds and 55 steals in his final season at Jacksonville, starting all 30 games. Martin earned ASUN Academic Honor Roll recognition in 2014.
Martin earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Young Harris College and his Master of Business Administration from Jacksonville University.
Dennan Morrow, Assistant Coach
Dennan Morrow joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff in April 2026 as an assistant coach under head coach Jon Cremins.
Morrow arrives in Atlanta following a successful stint at Jacksonville State, where he most recently served as associate head coach. After initially joining the Gamecocks as coordinator of basketball operations in October 2020, he was promoted to floor assistant in June 2022 and elevated to associate head coach prior to the 2024–25 season.
In his first season as associate head coach, Morrow played a key role in guiding Jacksonville State to 23 wins—the second-most in Division I program history—a Conference USA Championship game appearance and the program’s first-ever berth in the National Invitation Tournament. The Gamecocks posted a 12–6 mark in conference play and earned a notable 84–61 road win over Georgia Tech in the opening round of the NIT.
During his tenure, Morrow contributed across multiple areas of the program, including player development, scouting, and operations. As coordinator of basketball operations, he oversaw team travel, budgeting, scheduling, and equipment, while also helping the program navigate the 2020–21 COVID-19 season. He was part of Jacksonville State’s transition into the ASUN Conference in 2021–22, a season that culminated in a conference championship.
Prior to his time at Jacksonville State, Morrow spent five seasons coaching in the junior college ranks, including stops at Butler Community College, Chipola College, Daytona State, and Barton Community College.
A former student-athlete, Morrow began his collegiate career at Barton Community College, where he helped lead the program to a Jayhawk West Conference Championship and served as team captain. He later transferred to Southwestern College, earning Academic All-America honors while also serving as team captain.
Morrow is a two-time graduate of Kansas State, earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2013 and a master’s degree in academic advising in 2015. He also served as a graduate assistant with the Wildcats from 2013–15 after working as the program’s head student manager. He earned his associate degree from Barton Community College in 2010, maintaining a 4.0 GPA.
Matt Sholtis, Assistant Coach
Matt Sholtis joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff in April 2026 as an assistant coach under head coach Jon Cremins.
Sholtis reunites with Cremins after previously working together at both James Madison and Vanderbilt.
He arrives in Atlanta following two seasons as an assistant coach at Longwood (2024–26). Prior to that, he served as director of operations at Vanderbilt and spent three seasons in the same role at James Madison.
During his time with the Dukes, Sholtis helped guide the program through one of its most successful stretches in recent history. In his final season, James Madison won a school-record 32 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. The Dukes compiled 69 wins over his three seasons on staff, posting a winning record each year and finishing inside the top 100 of the NCAA NET rankings in each of his final two seasons.
Before James Madison, Sholtis held multiple roles at Charlotte, including director of scouting, where he oversaw the program’s video operations and contributed to recruiting efforts.
A Charlotte graduate, Sholtis earned his bachelor’s degree in communications in 2019 and his master’s degree in liberal studies in 2021.
Adam Simmons, Assistant Coach
Adam Simmons joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff in April 2026 as an assistant coach under head coach Jon Cremins.
He comes to Atlanta after spending one season as the Director of Operations at Longwood University.
Before his time at Longwood, Simmons served as a graduate assistant at Vanderbilt, where he worked under Cremins with the Commodores. He spent two seasons on staff during the 2023–24 and 2024–25 campaigns, contributing to daily operations, player development, and scouting.
A 2023 graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Simmons earned his bachelor’s degree before continuing his education at Vanderbilt, where he completed his master’s degree in leadership and organizational performance in 2025.
Terryonte Thomas, Assistant Coach
Terryonte Thomas joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in April 2026 under head coach Jon Cremins.
Thomas arrives in Atlanta from New Mexico State, where he spent three seasons on staff, including two as an assistant coach under head coach Jason Hooten.
He joined the Aggies after serving as a graduate assistant at Sam Houston during the 2022–23 season, helping guide the Bearkats to one of the most successful campaigns in program history. That team matched a school record with 26 wins and earned the No. 1 seed in the WAC Tournament.
As a player, Thomas competed at multiple levels, including stints at East Mississippi Community College, Sam Houston and Mississippi University for Women. At EMCC, he earned NJCAA All-Region 23 honors and first-team All-State recognition after averaging 13.7 points per game and helping lead the program to a conference championship.
He later played two seasons at Sam Houston, appearing in 51 games, before finishing his collegiate career at Mississippi University for Women. There, he averaged 22.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, ranking among the top scorers in the USCAA.
Thomas earned his bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State.
Michael Caswell, Operations Coordinator
Michael Caswell joined the Georgia State Panthers men’s basketball staff as the Operations Coordinator in April 2026 under head coach Jon Cremins.
Caswell arrives at Georgia State from Virginia Military Institute basketball, where he served as an assistant coach during the 2025–26 season following his hire in June 2025. In his lone season with the Keydets, VMI ranked first in the Southern Conference in assists (12.6 per game) and third in both free throw percentage (72.3) and steals per game (7.0). He also helped coach T.J. Johnson to Third Team All-SoCon honors after averaging 18.3 points per game and ranking among the nation’s top three-point shooters with 3.5 made threes per game.
Prior to VMI, Caswell served as head coach at Palm Beach Prep in Palm Beach, Florida, where he led the program to 15 wins and helped eight student-athletes earn opportunities to play at the collegiate level.
During that same period, he also served as the 17U Senior Team Head Coach for Florida Pro, focusing on skill development and mentoring future Florida A&M Rattlers men’s basketball signee Anthony Knowles.
Caswell spent the 2023–24 season as an assistant coach at Gettysburg Bullets men’s basketball, helping guide the program to its first-ever Centennial Conference regular-season championship. He also contributed to the development of Conference Player of the Year Jordan Stafford while overseeing in-season skill development and strength and conditioning.
From 2021–23, Caswell was a graduate assistant at Florida State Seminoles men’s basketball under legendary head coach Leonard Hamilton. During his time in Tallahassee, he gained experience as Interim Video Coordinator and was responsible for scouting reports and film breakdown. He previously served as a student manager for the program from 2019–21.
Caswell began his coaching career at Tallahassee Community College men’s basketball as an assistant coach during the 2018–19 season.
A former collegiate student-athlete, Caswell played at Messiah University men’s basketball from 2015–17 before a career-ending injury led him to transfer to Florida State to complete his education.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State in 2021 and later completed a master’s degree in sport management in 2023.
Aydin Melamed, Director of Player Personnel
Aydin Melamed joined the Georgia State men’s basketball staff as the Director of Player Personnel in April 2026 under head coach Jon Cremins.
Prior to Georgia State, Melamed was a graduate assistant with the University of Miami men’s basketball program beginning in July 2024, following two seasons as the team’s head manager.
A graduate of Miami, Melamed earned his bachelor’s degree in sports administration. In his role, he assisted with opponent scouting, on-court player development, recruiting efforts and film coding.
During his time as head manager, he was part of the Hurricanes’ historic runs to the Elite Eight and Final Four.
A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Melamed is the son of Todd and Hardeep Melamed and has one sister, Laylah.
Charlie DiPasqua, Director of Video and Analytics
Charles DiPasqua joins the Georgia State staff as the Director of Video and Analytics under head coach Jon Cremins in April 2026. Previously, he served as a men’s basketball intern under Cremins at Vanderbilt University.
