The Trine University men’s basketball team has announced the addition of Adam Beam to the coaching staff. Beam joins the Thunder coaching staff after spending the past two seasons at Adrian College.
“We are excited to welcome Adam Beam to our coaching staff at Trine University” said Thunder Head Coach Jon VanderWal. “Adam comes highly recommended, understands the MIAA landscape, and is a bright young coach with a relentless work ethic. His energy, professionalism, and passion for the game will make him a tremendous addition to our program.”
In Beam’s two seasons in Adrian, he helped the Bulldogs to a pair of MIAA Tournament appearances including Adrian’s highest finish in the MIAA standings in four seasons. The Bulldogs saw a pair of players earn All-MIAA status while Beam was on staff.
Beam spent the 2023-24 season at Wittenberg University as an assistant, the Tigers finished the season 18-9 and advanced to the NCAC Tournament semifinals. Trey Killens was named to the All-NCAC first team and All-Tournament team during the season.
Prior to Wittenberg, Beam spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Alfred University in Alfred, New York. In his time, the Saxons compiled a record of 44-19 and the first Eastern College Athletic Conference tournament win. The Saxons also garnered two Empire 8 tournament wins during his tenure.
Beam is an alumni of Wright State University where he graduated in May of 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership. He served as a student manager for the Raiders while in school and was part of the 2018 team that made an appearance in the NCAA Tournament following their Horizon League Tournament Championship. The Raiders qualified for the 2019 and 2020 National Invitational Tournament.
