I mentioned this search in the DAILY DIRT late last week – following-up with more names…

I have heard from multiple sources that the search for a new basketball coach at D3 Clark University (MA) is down to three (or five). It sounds like interviews have wrapped, and a decision is imminent. The names that I have heard are:

Matt Graves – Assistant Coach UMass Lowell. Graves is a former assistant at Clark who has been at UMass Lowell for the past four years. He has also been an assistant coach and DBO at Mount St. Mary’s and spent time at D2 Belmont Abbey and D3 McDaniel.

Chris Lydon – Associate Head Coach Tufts University. Lydon has been on the Jumbos staff for the past three seasons. He has also worked at D3 Suffolk and D3 Wheaton. Lydon played Collegiately at UMass.

Mike Mailhot – Assistant Coach University of Chicago. Has been at Chicago for the past seven seasons. He has also been an assistant at D3’s Muhlenberg and Nichols, and played Collegiately at Emmanuel (MA).

I have also heard that two current head coaches have interviewed, but I cannot confirm that they are in the final group. One has strong ties to Clark and currently coaches out of the region, and one is a current New England D3 coach.

This group is vying to replace Tyler Simms, who became an assistant at Bucknell back in early June after seven seasons as the head coach at Clark.
