Daily Dirt – 9/11/14

A bunch of things that I’ve heard today…

• I can confirm that Queens College (NY) head coach Darryl Jacobs has finalized his staff. Joining him this season are Ray Haskins, Kim Bailey, and Michael Carrera. Also, Brendan Green will serve as the graduate assistant. Haskins is the former head coach at LIU where he led his squad to an NIT (1997) and NCAA (1998) appearance. Bailey was most recently an assistant at Hostos, and Carrera spent last season at Old Westbury. Green just wrapped up his playing career at Mt. St. Vincent College.

• I have heard from a good source that new West Virginia Wesleyan head coach Gary Nottingham has hired Mark Rozanski as an assistant. Rozanski spent last season as an assistant at UT Tyler, and has also worked at University of St. Mary (KS). The Pittsburgh native is the son of Bob Rozanski, who won over 600 HS games in 32 seasons before retiring in 2010.

• I mentioned the four finalists at Clarkson earlier this week (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/749dc505/empire-state-dirt/…). The “hot” rumor from multiple sources is that the job has been offered to Case Western assistant Jeff Gorski. There is no word yet is he will accept it, but I should hear more tomorrow.

• Word on the street is that Volunteer State CC (TN) assistant Raphael Howard has departed and will assume a similar role at Cleveland State CC (TN). Howard had been at Vol State for the past four seasons. He was also the head coach at the College of Lake County (IL), and an assistant at Milwaukee Area Tech, Miles College, Cardinal Stritch, and Milwaukee School of Engineering.

• Kevin White has been hired as an assistant at Kalamazoo College (MI). Most recently, he has been a HS and AAU coach in Michigan. He has also worked at the college level as an assistant at Albion, Glen Oaks CC, and had an earlier stint at Kalamazoo.
