Daily Dirt – 4/22/14

Still on vacation. Wanted to get some stuff up before the DirtQueen and Little DirtBags wake up…

• Former Loyola Marymount assistant Tom Abatemarco has joined Frank Haith’s staff at Tulsa. Abatemarco spent last season on Max Good’s staff at LMU, and has extensive DI experience. He has been the head coach at Drake, Lamar, and Sacramento State. He has also been an assistant with the Sacramento Kings, and a high major assistant at too many places to list!

• I have heard that Gerald Gillion will become the special assistant to the head coach at South Florida. He was most recently the DBO at Florida International. Gillion was a HS coach in Florida before joining the FIU staff this past season.

• It sounds like Salt Lake CC assistant Landon Crosby is in the mix for the DBO spot at Northern Arizona. He has been at SLCC for the past two seasons, and was a manager Weber State before that.

• I have heard that former West Texas A&M assistant (and most recently interim head coach) Vinay Patel will head to Rogers State as an assistant. Patel had been at West Texas A&M since 2005 –first as a GA, and then as a full-time assistant.

• I can confirm that new Brooklyn College head coach Rich Micallef will retain current assistant Brian Shea. Shea has been an assistant at Brooklyn College since 2011, and was a four-year letter winner there prior to that.

• A follow up from yesterday… still having HD email issues – in the meantime, feel free to text me at (208) 495-4129.
