Daily Dirt III – 4/17/14

Some late night dirt…

• I have heard that URI associate head coach Preston Murphy may join Jim Christian’s staff at Boston College. Murphy has been at URI for the past four seasons – before that he was the DBO on Al Skinner’s staff at BC. Also, there are some rumors making the rounds that former BC standout Jay Murphy could become the DBO. He was a second round pick in the 1984 NBA draft (Golden State), and played parts of three seasons in the league. He would bring some big-time local prep ties to The Heights.

• It sounds like Ron Oliver is in the mix for an assistant spot on Michael Curry’s staff at Florida Atlantic. He has a ton of NBA experience as a scout and assistant with the Philadelphia 76ers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, and Toronto Raptors. He also became close to Curry during their time with the Pistons. Oliver spent the 2010 season as the DBO at Ball State.
