South Carolina Dirt…

A few things from the Palmetto State…

• I mentioned last night that I had heard Houston associate head coach Alvin Brooks name surrounding the vacancy at West Texas A&M (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/7e02844d/texas-dirt/…). Another name that is now making the rounds is South Carolina-Aiken head coach Vince Alexander. His team is currently 32-3 and playing in the NCAA DII Elite Eight. They also won the Peach Belt Conference this year. Alexander has been the head coach at USC Aiken for the past nine seasons.

• There is definitely some uncertainty surrounding the situation at South Carolina State. Interim Head Coach Murray Garvin reportedly inked a one-year deal when he took over last year for Tim Carter. Since the end of the season, there has been no announcement as to whether Garvin will remain at the helm or not. The Bulldogs finished 9-20 and were the #12 seed in the MEAC Tournament. To further complicate the situation, SC State AD Charlene Johnson is leaving – her last day is 4/15. I have no idea what’s going to happen here, but we will keep an eye on this situation.
