Daily Dirt – 3/13/14

Crazy day…here are a few things that I’ve heard…

• I have heard that Wichita State associate head coach Chris Jans in very high on the list at Bowling Green. He is in his sixth season for the undefeated Shockers. Jans won the NJCAA DII National Championship as the head coach at Kirkwood CC (IA) in 1997 and won a total of 159 games in six seasons as a head coach. He will be high on a lot of lists this off season, but it sounds like Bowling Green is working hard on this one.

• Two separate sources have mentioned UNLV associate head coach Heath Schroyer’s name when talking about the Tennessee-Martin job. The former Wyoming head coach has been on staff at UNLV for the past three seasons. He has also been the head coach at Portland State and an assistant at Fresno State.

• Too many names at Auburn right now. The name which comes up the most however is former Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury. He knows how to win in the SEC – went 293-166 in 14 seasons at MSU, including ten 20 win campaigns. If I’m a betting man, Auburn will be wrapped up before the Final Four.

• On the horizon……Lots of smoke signals coming out of Washington State and Boston College. Look for announcements (either way) coming from both schools in the coming days. Also, keep an eye on the America East. A couple of schools there that could go either way in the next week.

• I’ve got some good stuff on UNC-Wilmington. Hope to get that up by the end of the day.
