Daily Dirt – 2/12/14

With season starting to wind down, the “dirt” is starting to heat up! Here are a few things that I have heard over the last few days from the great Canadian territory of Maine…

• I can confirm that Thomas College head coach Darrell “Texas” Alexander has been relieved of his duties. He has been replaced on an interim basis by former Colby College head coach Dick Whitmore. Whitmore retired after the 2011 season after compiling a 637-341 record in 40 seasons at Colby. He becomes the 4th head coach at Thomas since May 2013.

• Maine Maritime has begun the process to replace retiring head coach Chris Murphy. I have heard that the job will not be officially posted until April or May. It sounds like it will be a full-time job paying somewhere between $49,000 and $52,000 with additional responsibilities working with intramurals and club sports. I have heard a lot of DII and DIII assistants who have reached out already. We will post the job as soon as we get it.
