HOT: Extension for IPFW’s Jasick

IPFW Interim Director of Athletics Kelley Hartley Hutton has announced that IPFW has signed head men’s basketball coach Tony Jasick to a contract extension through the 2017-18 season.

Jasick, originally hired as head coach on April 20, 2011, has the most wins in the first two seasons of being head coach in IPFW’s Division I era, and the third-most in school history. His team’s 16 wins last season tie for the most in a season since 1992-93, and the team’s six-game win streak late last year is the longest win streak since 1992-93.

Off the court he has improved his programs Annual Progress Report (APR) behind back-to-back perfect single-year scores, in addition to seeing his team’s GPA climb to 2.99 for two consecutive seasons.

Jasick has been a part of the Mastodon program for the last nine years, including four years as associate head coach, and three as assistant coach prior to his appointment as head coach.

Before arriving at IPFW, Jasick was a member of the coaching staff at Middle Tennessee State University. During the 2004-05 season at MTSU, he helped the Blue Raiders to 19 wins, as he was responsible for video coordination, player academic progress, and community service projects.

During the 2003-04 season, Jasick was on the coaching staff at Newberry College. During his tenure, the Indians won 16 games, the best mark the school had seen in over 20 years, and the Indians appeared in the South Atlantic Conference Championship game for the first time in school history.

Jasick began his career as a volunteer assistant at the University of North Alabama in the Gulf South Conference.
