Daily Dirt – 8/2/13

Some “dirt” to wrap-up the week…

• Corliss Williamson to the Kings is official – this is from Williamson’s Twitter: “@ucaCoachFin Thank u for all that u have taught me over the years both as a coach & a player. There is no1 better!Go get em Cuz!! “. As I mentioned earlier in the day, it appears that Clarence Finley will indeed become the interim head coach. We’ll pass along the official statement once it is released.

• Two good sources have told me that Maine will hire former Lee Academy (ME) head coach Deshon Gaither as an assistant. He had been at Lee since 2010 – first as an assistant, the as the head coach. Gaither also spent time as an assistant at Bryant University (RI). He would replace Nate Philippe who became an assistant at American earlier this spring.

• It sounds like Gardner-Webb will bump up Paul Hemrick from DBO to assistant coach. He would replace Jay McAuley who was recently named as an assistant at Furman. Last season was Hemrick’s first at GWU – he was a HS coach before that.

• I have heard that Western Texas College has hired Ross Convertino as an assistant. He was most recently a GA at Gonzaga. He also had stops at Winchendon Prep (MA) and Notre Dame Prep (MA), and worked a manager at UConn.

• It sounds like Graceland University (IA) assistant Matt Sherman has departed and has become an assistant at William Jewell College (MO). He was at GU for one season, and was a GA at Northwestern State (LA) before that.
