I can confirm that Bethany College (WVa) head coach Andrew Sachs will be named as the new head coach at Salisbury University (MD). He will replace Josh Merkel who became the head coach at Randolph-Macon earlier this spring. Sachs, a 1990 Salisbury alum, has compiled a 117-49 record in his five seasons at Bethany.
Prior to arriving at Bethany, Sachs had served as Ralph Willard’s assistant at Holy Cross for the previous five seasons. During that span, the Crusaders appeared in four Patriot League Championship games, averaged over 20 wins per year, won two regular season titles in 2005 and 2007 and won the Patriot League Tournament in 2007 to receive an NCAA Tournament bid. He began his career as an assistant at Salisbury, and also worked at IUP and Virginia Wesleyan.
The official announcement is expected later this afternoon.
