Two former NCAA coaches have recently landed jobs at the professional level.

Jerome Allen – The former head coach at Penn will join Brad Stevens staff with the Boston Celtics.  Allen took over at his alma mater mid-way through the 2009 season and was dismissed following this past season (65-104 overall).  The former two-time Ivy League Player of the Year was a second round pick by the Timberwolves (1995), and also spent time with the Pacers and Nuggets before embarking on an overseas career that lasted twelve years.  Allen has already hit the ground running – he joined the Celtics summer league team yesterday.

Tony Jones – The long-time assistant to Bruce Pearl has landed as the Interim Head Coach of the Windsor Express of the National Basketball League of Canada.  Jones worked for Pearl this past season at Auburn, and was also on Pearl’s staff at Tennessee and Wisconsin Milwaukee.  He will serve as the interim head coach for this season, replacing his brother Bill Jones who will be serving a season-long suspension.
