New Central Oklahoma men’s basketball coach Tom Hankins announced that Cameron Henderson would be taking over as assistant coach for the Bronchos.

Henderson comes to UCO from Connors State, where he served as assistant coach the past three seasons. The Cowboys went 79-18 during Henderson’s tenure and qualified for the junior college national tournament twice.

“I’ve recruited Cameron’s players at Connors for a few years now and was really impressed with how hard he works and the talent he was able to recruit to Connors,” said Hankins, who took over as UCO’s head coach on June 1. “The success Connors has had while Cameron has been there is very impressive. He knows Oklahoma and the surrounding states and will be a great addition to our program.”

A three-time All-State performer at Hall High School in Little Rock, Ark., Henderson started his college career at Connors in 2007. He was a two-time All-Bi-State Conference and All-Region II selection for the Cowboys before signing with Division I Montana State.

Henderson was a two-year letterman for the Bobcats and then stayed on as a student assistant coach. He returned to Connors as assistant coach in 2012.

The Cowboys went 24-9 in 2012-13, followed with a 23-7 campaign and conference championship in 2013-14 and then had a 32-2 record this past season while winning conference and regional titles. Connors made the national tournament in 2013 and ’15, advancing to the Elite Eight this season.

Henderson recruited the 2014 and ’15 Region II MVP award winners and 11 players signed with Division I schools during his tenure at Connors.
